Ten Things About my Love that Blesses Me

#10

My wife prepares food for and cloths my children.  Her execution of domestic duties free me up to be the best provider I can be.

#9

It blesses me that my wife has an artistic and creative side that she can express in both artwork and writing novels.

#8

I'm blessed when my wife prepares a dish that I know I can't cook as well as her.  It's somewhat frustrating, amusing and yet a big blessing.

#7

Seeing my wife experience an Oxycontin induced emotional high while she bonds with our babies while breastfeeding. We haven't had this experience recently, but it's quite a blessing to see.

#6

I like when I yell downstairs for someone to get me a tall glass of water and she responds, "But you are one!"

#5

It's a blessing to me that my wife honors me as the Patriarch and leader of our household.

#4

When I come home after a long day's work and my wife is literally bouncing up and down with enthusiasm to see me, I feel like one of the most loved men in the world.

#3

I love when we're engaged in a hot topic debate (current events, politics, biblical) and after arguing with confidence I realize that she's right, I'm wrong and I'm blessed to have such a wise wife.

#2

I'm honored to see my wife come along my side and raise my children in the nurture and admonition of the LORD, endowed with obvious and evidenced wisdom from above.

#1

I appreciate that a bruised reed my wife will not break.  When I've made a mistake and come to her feeling guilty over something I've done wrong, she offers comfort, peace and forgiveness.  She does not pile on, but rather loves.  Emotionally stable she never gets too low on me even in my worst moments.

My Journey to a Happy Marriage

My journey to a happy marriage began around 26 years ago.  I was the child of divorced and remarried parents and I had a fairly stable childhood. About 26 years ago I gave my life to the Lord at the approximate age of 13.

I hungered and thirsted for God's righteousness and knowledge of him so I began reading his word. My Bible was with me wherever I went, and I read it whenever I had an opportunity. In the course of this reading and growth I learned many things not the least of which was the value of a 1st Peter 3 woman.
3:1 Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct. Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.
The notion was and is out of place in our culture. Who can find a woman willing to be subject to her husband?  It would be a difficult task indeed, especially as an African American man in America. Our culture is not known for developing submissive wives.  Yet as with all things, my heart was with God's heart.  God considered submission in a woman to be a very precious and beautiful thing and so as a result I did too.  My heart yearned for what God described in this passage.

There were doubters and naysayers, "You're going to have to go to another country to find a woman like that", but as anyone who knows me knows, I'm a man of resolve.  As I grew as a young man I held firmly to the vision of this Godly woman.

In reference to this picture of a godly wife one moment in high school stands out most vividly in my mind.  A girl in my class had a friend who had a crush on me.  Her friend was externally beautiful and so she was lobbying for me to give her friend a chance.  She couldn't understand my resistance, because her friend was gorgeous.  While we sat in class I opened my bible and read to her the above passage in 1 Peter 3.  I told her this is the kind of woman I am looking for.  That's why I was not interested.  My conviction and resolve was perplexing.  Some people even thought I might be gay, I mean how else do you explain a man turning away beautiful women who are virtually throwing themselves at him?

So I went to college and developed some interest in a couple of women over that time that never panned out.  I then began to attend one of the mega-churches to increase my opportunities to find a suitable partner.  At the same time I developed an interest in sharing the doctrines of grace in the context of my culture, so I occasionally visited a local African American Presbyterian church called Pinecrest.

My heart went out to my people at Pinecrest because they have accurate confessions, but the denomination has moved so far from what those confessions say.  I participated in bible study there to share with them the doctrines of their own confessions and to hopefully be of service.  In this time I developed a friendship with Deborah, who regularly attended church and bible study there.  Eventually I would meet Deborah's daughter who would later become my wife, Daina.

Daina would attend bible study and she had a quiet spirit.  I was not immediately thinking of Daina in the context of being a suitable wife.  She was my friend's daughter.  Still, I believe the LORD had planned to bring us together.  My wife would later tell me (when we were dating) that the LORD had shown her before we were dating that I was going to be her husband.  She had been praying for God to show her who would be the one.

As Daina and I would begin to get to know each other better, I would begin to see more clearly that she is a 1 Peter 3 woman.  She was a woman with a meek and quiet spirit.  This grew my love for her. Finally the LORD had given me what I'd desired for many years, the very thing he desired for wives to be for their husbands.

Daina & I were married on May 21st, 2005.  As two flawed human beings we had some struggles in the beginning of our marriage.  It would take time for us to grow and learn to sacrifice and see the other's perspectives.

One of the safe guards we put in place early was that we would not entertain any negative communications about our spouse from others.  It can be difficult for those who love you to see the flaws of your spouse and not have something to say, some kind of input to "help". We also would mostly abstain from complaining about our spouse to others. Outside the context of accountability meetings (where this type of information may be instrumental in facilitating spiritual growth) we generally held well to this standard.

During this formative time we tried to hold to the biblical standard of not letting the sun set on our anger.  Sometimes this required my type-A personality to refuse to allow a conflict to simmer unresolved.  Sometimes my wife's calming and reasonable demeanor was what was needed to get us to let down our guards and work together to resolve issues.  Through out these first few years I continued to teach my wife concerning the areas spiritually I saw she could grow in.  I trained her in what a Godly wife is from a biblical perspective because I believe it is my job.  It is my responsibility to continue to be the spiritual leader of our family in all areas, even those that might be perceived as self-serving.

Daina and I began to have children and Daina took on the unfamiliar challenge of homeschooling.  I helped as the "Principal" of the school with selecting curriculum.  Over the years Daina has taken more and more control and leadership over homeschooling such that I'm virtually completely uninvolved at this point, which I love.

While I do believe I've developed some over our marriage by being slower to speak, slower to anger and quicker to listen, I'd say my wife has been transformed by the power of Christ so much more.

Daina is my greatest treasure aside from Jesus Christ.  In her God gave me all things things I knew I wanted and many of the things I didn't have the wisdom to know I needed.  But God knew.  She is a perfectly suited instrument of God to bring about my sanctification.  My wife has:

  • Meekness - which is needed to diffuse my assertive personality
  • Intelligence - which has been a blessing for us to be able to engage in deep conversations
  • Beauty - which has obvious benefits
  • Love for God - which enables her to submit to her husband even when she disagrees on non-moral things
  • Mental Toughness - which allows her to not be easily offended or overly sensitive
  • Love for her Children - which enables her to serve well in raising them in the nurture and admonition of the LORD.
While I had considered Meekness, Beauty and Love for God as criteria for marriage, I had not considered Intelligence and Mental Toughness.  Only after marriage, looking back, have I seen how much of a blessing these things have been and how much God was looking out for me.  He gave me the perfect woman for me.

I stand before you today as a man in a happy marriage.  A happy marriage takes a lot of work, a love for God, a commitment to staying the course and a desire to model Christ and his church to the world around you, that is if we want to have God's kind of happy marriage.

Thank you LORD for the last 11 years.  You blessed me with an awesome wife and awesome in-laws to boot!

Weight Loss Day 2 & Other Stuff

Diet

So I went out to lunch today.  Ate a lot more than I planned to eat.  Probably a little over 2100 calories.  Best estimate 58/24/18 of Fat/Carbs/Protein.  Avoided most heavy carbs and pretty much just had two bananas and one mini kit kat.

I'd like to say tomorrow I'll be back on my super fat-loss salad diet, but I have another lunch with co-workers tomorrow.  I'll have to watch what I eat and try to get those calories back down around 1500.

Exercise

So today I did Insanity.  It's amazing how out of shape I am.  I'm not moving nearly as much as I used to and my heart rate is jumping over my 80% of 156 fairly quickly.  I just have to take it easy for now until I get into better shape.

Other

Going to sleep hungry, but hunger never really bothered me much.  Praise YHWH I eat to enjoy food, not because I'll faint or anything like that if I don't.  Makes it easy for me to give it up when I want to.

Weight Loss Competition - Day 0 & Day 1 Review

Day 0

So this past Sunday a few guys at the church started a weight loss friendly competition.  I ate quite a bit leading up to the competition to weigh in on the high side.  With cloths the scale we are using came in at 240.8.  So there we go; that's the baseline.  I do not expect to win the competition due to my focus on fat loss instead of weight loss, but I think I'll see good progress before the competition ends.  If I can get under 200 while preserving most of my muscle, I'll be happy.

Day 1

Monday was a little unexpected in how it unfolded.  I made my first attempt at my super fat-loss muscle-preserving low carb diet.  I'm basically eating a salad formulated to preserve muscle and burn fat while supplementing for protein using eggs and vegetarian protein powder.  My over-eating Sunday has reversed and my very limited consumption Monday of about 1400 calories allowed me to weight in at the equivalent of 236.5.  I say equivalent because I have to add in the 2.3 pounds of cloths I wear when weighing at church.  Actual scale weight was ~234.3.  Obviously this pace can't be maintained and has a lot to do with weighing in with a full stomach.  Waist measurement went from 43.5 to 42.125.  This should be my personal baseline measure for measuring progress since I am now in full swing in the new diet.

It was really surprising that on the new diet I did not crave carbs at all.  I had a banana for breakfast and pretty much no other carb concentrated food all day.  Dietary breakdown yesterday was about 1330 calories with 51% fat, 19% carbs & 30% protein.  I had multiple opportunities to purchase candy but it didn't entice me.  Very interesting.

I'm reformulating my salad tomorrow because the one I made tonight was really good:  Extra garlic & Habanero.

The Struggle to Redeem Christmas

I don’t know about you, but Christmas is a struggle for me. I want it to be about Christ and Christ alone. Yet there are so many things pulling us away from that. There are so many considerations and accommodations that almost seem necessary. What does eating turkey with family have to do with the birth of Christ? We might say it is a celebration, but really? How much time does the family spend bringing glory to God and verbally and demonstrably celebrating the birth of Christ? I mean, not counting the pre-meal prayer?

First we have a high degree of certainty that Christ was not born on December 25th. Ultimately that particular day has little historical value from a Christian perspective; Christ was likely born in the spring or summer. Many of the symbols of Christmas are from pagan religious observations/celebrations and should probably not be used, such as the Christmas tree & other Christmas decorations.

Gift giving becomes a distraction from the real meaning of Christmas, so we try to eliminate gifts as a part of our celebration, postponing them to some time around the New Year if they are to be received at all.

The difficult part comes in where and how to celebrate Christmas. Our families are rooted in Houston but this is the only time we have to see many of them each year as some come into town. Can we really completely seclude ourselves in our own home to celebrate Christ’s birth in a meaningful way and thereby diminish familial relationships? While it would be ideal to completely replace our pagan celebrations with Christ-centered worship, the cost seems significant and one has to ask if there's a better way.

I think I’ve decided how our family will approach it from now on, Lord willing. We will celebrate Christmas on December 24th. We will have a day of worship to God and thanksgiving for Christ’s birth. I will preach about his coming, death & resurrection. We will sing Christ centered Christmas songs. We will pray prayers of thanksgiving and praise. We may watch a Christ-centered Christmas story movie, and it may not be very entertaining to our flesh, but hopefully it will build up our souls. We will eat turkey and other traditional holiday food. We will have a birthday cake for Jesus and sing happy birthday to Him.

We will NOT play dominoes, watch sports, watch secular TV or find any other time fillers to focus on other than Christ. We will worship our God for sending His son to save our souls. To this worship service in our homes we will invite our family, focusing on those who have a relationship with Christ, because this time is meant to be a time of worship, not a time of evangelism.

Then on December 25th we’ll make the traditional rounds of turkey eating and visiting with family while re-emphasizing to our children that our prior day of worship is what Christmas is really all about.

YHWH willing we will do all these things to His glory.

My African American friends, if I were to tell you of a genocide occurring in Africa where white people were killing nearly half of the black population, would you be outraged? If you found out these blacks had been brainwashed to accept and even appreciate the genocide, to willingly participate as part of some strange social ritual, would that make it OK?

Its happening right here in America with nearly half of all black children being murdered before they are born. Sadly blacks have been brainwashed by racists & the democratic party and don't know that Planned Parenthood's original purpose was to exterminate the black race. Sadly this is well documented. Sadly blacks don't know we are targeted with 94% of abortion clinics in "urban" areas. If you're a black person in America and you don't know who Margaret Sanger is, you need to get informed. fulfilling Margaret Sanger's (founder of Planned Parenthood) dream of ending black procreation. Will you spend 10 minutes googling to research the genocide occurring in your own neighborhood?

ALERT on Vaccines: Have you had your dose of aborted babies?

You may not know this but many of the vaccines we take are made from murdered baby flesh, also called human diploid cells.

The latest addition?  Swine Flu vaccine.  My family for one will not allow our health to profit from the murder of "innocent" children.  For some of these vaccines, there is no alternative, and for some of them there are.  For those that have no alternative, the only thing to do is to NOT get the vaccine.  One such vaccine is Rubella (in any form, MMR, or other).

Until we decide as a nation, each person much decide for themselves and their families, whether or not they are willing to take their dose of murdered babies at the government's request/demand.

How about that national debt

The numbers are staggering. I'm a social conservative primarily and I hate what the fiscally conservative republicans did to Huckabee in the primary. But honestly, can we avoid the conclusion that our parents were in sin in laying this much debt on their children's shoulders? Are we not also in sin by continuing the madness?

Spreadsheet with Debt and interest payments for each US household

Just the interest on our debt is almost 6 grand per tax paying household. THAT'S JUST TO KEEP THE DEBT STABLE.

Voting Guide for Harris County

Below is my voter's guide which combines the input of several different sources.  There are three ways to access my voting guide:

By excel (attached), pdf (attached) & online at google docs at the following url:

Resources used:
Please note only republican candidates are listed here because I don't know of any pro-life democrats.  Texas Right to Life does endorse pro-life democrats, they just aren't many that exist.  You can see from their guide that there are a few, just not any that we can vote for in Harris county.

God bless,

Baby Video & Aborter Encounter

I was forwarded the website below.  The banner on the front of this website shows video of babies at different development ages.  See for yourself how early a baby develops.  Sad to say, some will respond to this by not even believing their eyes:

http://www.ehd.org/index.php

You can see that even at 4 week, what we have is a little child.

I was talking to someone I know and he told me he had made his partner of the past have repeated abortions.  He now was pro-life but not willing to call it murder.  Sometimes we can be so preoccupied with not allowing ourselves to feel guilty, that we will deceive ourselves and avoid truth even when it stares us in the face.

For those who have had or have encouraged abortion, I can tell you no other than that it is murder.  That needs to resonate.  That needs to weigh on your soul so that you can feel the weight of your guilt before God.

After you have fully accepted the weight of your guilt, having committed murder, you can come to Christ for forgiveness.  Jesus Christ can forgive the murder just like he forgives the adulterer, the liar, the effeminate.  God's forgiveness is there for the taking, but you can't receive that until you truly repent and repentance requires a full admission of guilt.  Never allow pride to separate you from the forgiveness, grace and mercy of God.

You can call out today "Lord Jesus though I am a sinner and a murderer, I call to you for forgiveness today.  Lord cleanse me of my sin.  I trust not in my own righteousness, perceived through the convenience of avoidance.  I acknowledge my guilt and trust in nothing more than the blood of Christ to cleanse me."

Final (& Short) Presidential Update

As you know, Mike Huckabee has left the race.  I will not be voting for John McCain and of course not a pro-abortion democrat in the general election.  I'll have to pick some third party or something.

Now there has been much controversy over the religion of Barack Obama.  We know he claims to be a Christian convert.  Based on this NY Times article Obama: Man of the World, I seriously have to consider the possibility that Obama is still Muslim and is attempting to deceive the population.  Even if he is not still Muslim, his comments show that having him as president while we are dealing with Islamic terrorists IMO will put us in great danger.  The article states:

Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it'll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset."

What call to prayer is this?  Here are the words:

Allah Akbar, Allah Akbar (Allah is greater).
Ash'hado Aan La Illaha Illa Allah (I witness that there is no God but Allah).
Ash'hado Aanna Mohammadan Rasoul Allah (I witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah).

And what is the significance of this prayer?  This prayer is the religious test often applied to those who would be forced to convert.  If a pagan is not willing to convert and recite this prayer stating that Allah is the only God (Denying Jehovah of the bible or any other supposed God for that matter), they are executed.

Koran's verses:
008:039: And fight with them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah; but if they desist, then surely Allah sees what they do.
009:005: So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Obama is an intelligent man, super intelligent.  How could he see these words which are used to slaughter Christians and Hindus around the world...words that require subjection to Islam alone...words that if used in conjunction with Koran 9:5 would be the only words by which you could save your own life...how could he call them "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset"?

I don't know, but I seriously fear that we may be witnessing the rise of an anti-Christ president who pretends to be a Christian so he can be elected.  At best we have someone who has no understanding of the real threat of Islam and is far too friendly with it.

Please pray for the wellbeing of our country and that God will give us a president that is not an anti-Christ.

Presidential Election (February Update)

Everyone so much has happened.

Mitt Romney has dropped out of the race, leaving only Mike Huckabee and John McCain as contenders.

The media has been sabotaging Mike Huckabee this whole race. Every attempt they get they say he can't win. He's not a factor. He only has evangelicals. So on and so forth. THIS RACE IS NOT OVER!

McCain has ~700 delegates right now. He needs almost 1200 to get the nomination. There are 1199 delegates still up for grabs. To seal this he needs 40% of the remaining delegates. Now mind you that these delegates are not assigned proportionally. Even in states that are not Winner Take all statewide, some are Winner take all by precinct. In states like that, even a small margin of victory can give you the overwhelming number of delegates. We've seen that in earlier states where winning by a few point might give you a 30 to 5 delegate advantage.

For Huckabee to seal the deal he would have to win 80% of the remaining delegates. This is doable, but HE DOESN'T HAVE TO DO THAT. HE ONLY NEEDS TO WIN 60%+ to force a convention vote that would causes the Romney and other delegates to have to make a choice. MOST OF THESE DELEGATES WOULD GO TO HUCKABEE BARRING ANY INTERFERENCE FROM ROMNEY TELLING THEM TO DO SOMETHING ELSE.

It is easy, very easy for a conservative like Huckabee, no longer splitting the vote with Romney get to more than 60% of the remaining delegates. If he gets 75% or so, I think he has an almost even chance of picking up enough of Romney's delegates to win. Getting 75% of the vote would be hard, but with these winner take all precincts, getting 75% of the delegates is VERY doable!!!!

Let's be reminded of who McCain is. He is the man that called the leaders of the Christian Coalition within the party "agents of intolerance" and went on to call us "evil" influence on the Republican party. EVIL!!!! McCain believe us Christians who want a voice in the party are evil!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/05/AR2006050501745.html

He supports embryonic stem-cell research which fundamentally is just another form of abortion/murder. He does not support defining marriage as between a man and a woman, which I guess is in line with his view that we are "agents of intolerance". He tried to give amnesty in the last immigration bill (McCain-Kennedy), before building a fence. He is co-author of the McCain-Feingold bill to restrict political free speech.

Some have said that he has explicitly stated he would not support justices like Alito, although there may not be enough evidence to confirm that. Considering that he views us Christians as EVIL I can imagine that he would not nominate an Alito or Thompson to the court.

There is a concerted effort by the media to end this race now, to discourage voters. Scott Rasmussen has even gone so far as to end his polling on the republican side to sabotage Mike Huckabee, or so it appears:

http://bradbeblogging.blogspot.com/2008/02/action-alert-scott-rasmussen-sabotages.html

What can you do?

Mike Huckabee has been running on a shoe-string budget. He needs contributions to get the 70% of the remaining delegates he'll need to win at convention by winning over Romney's delegates.

Contribute Here:

https://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=Contribute.Home&r=17962

God has given us a great opportunity to influence our party. Do we want another Republican who is not socially conservative, someone like Reagan or Bush Sr. who gave us a record of 3 out of 5 Supreme Court Justices that support Roe vs Wade? McCain would probably give us all bad judges. We need a true social conservative and that man is Mike Huckabee.

Go to his website at http://www.mikehuckabee.com to see where he stands on the issues (click the issues link).

ACTION ALERT!!!! - Scott Rasmussen Sabotages Us

Scott Rasmussen has decided to stop polling the Republican race.

This is an direct attempt at sabotage!!  I called them and asked why, and they basically told me the race was over and it was their decision to make.  The tone of the conversation made it clear that they have no intentions of changing their minds on this.

This poll is extremely important.  I'm speaking only as an individual Huckabee supporter, but I believe we need to go into action on this.  Let me explain why this appears to be deliberate first.

When the race was between 3 men, with McCain way ahead, he still polled on both Wednesday and Thursday.  Even though the conservative vote was still split between Huckabee and Romney, he still polled!  With the conservative vote split between those two, it was practically IMPOSSIBLE for Huckabee or Romney to win.  Yet he still polled!

Now that Romney is out, it is now VERY POSSIBLE for Huckabee to win taking the conservative vote, and it is now that he decides to stop polling saying the race is over.  Huckabee could easily win almost all of the remaining states, because THE CONSERVATIVE VOTE CAN NOW BE UNITED.

If he had decided to stop polling immediately after Tuesday's results were known, maybe his decision could be regarded as misguided but genuine.  Since he continued polling, this decision can only be regarded as a deceptive attempt at sabotage.

What can we do?  We need to get this in front of the media and hammer and hammer and hammer it until the story gets picked up and some political pressure causes Scott to change his mind.

ACTION:
  • Write in to every news show you know, telling them Scott and much of the other media is trying to sabotage the race and end it early.
  • This one is Huge, because it can't be ignored....call into EVERY RADIO TALK SHOW you can and voice the message before they can cut you off.
  • Contact the Huckabee campaign and advise that they address this issue as well in the media.
  • And finally (and probably least effectively, but still worth the time) send email to Scott Rasmussen, and call (732)776-9777.
  • Lets get this out to every huckabee meetup, or forum group we can.

Let's stop this concerted attempt by the establishment to have an abortion of this election!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tough Road Ahead with No Regrets

As I'm sure you know, we lost South Carolina.

A win in Florida will turn it back into a good tight race.  Still we have to WIN Florida, having taken a significant hit in momentum.

One thing I know.  I can look back at this win or lose and not have regrets.  I did what I could knowing that Huckabee is the only candidate who will protect the unborn.  My voice was heard.  My sacrifice was made.  I laid it on the line.  For that I am eternally grateful to God for putting it in my heart.  I can walk away from this election no matter how it turns out knowing that I represented what was righteous....not what was for me advantageous.

I don't mean to talk like it's over, but it would be unrealistic to not see that we missed a big big opportunity to really jump ahead in this race, and the road is now much more difficult.

I thank my God continually that he appoints our rulers, or else I could be more distressed.  I know that His wisdom is so much greater than mine.  Into God's hands we continue to leave this race as we are faithful in what we can do through God's strength.

Continue to pray for Mike Huckabee and for our nation.  Pray for the children, the little people in their mother's wombs who are being murdered.  Pray for our country to open it's eyes and reject this inhumane practice.  Every person deserves to have the same rights to live protected by due process of law.

I fear in my heart that if Mike Huckabee is not elected, we will see in the next president's term the true wrath of God against our ungodliness.  I know that might sound "fundamentalist".  Sorry, that is what I believe is a good possibility.  God has sent us a man after his own heart, and if we reject him, I can see that being the impetus in God moving forward with his judgment of our nation.  Time will tell.

Presidential Election (January Update)

Hi all,

Mike Huckabee, the only truly pro-life candidate in the race (and here is the proof) is once again on top of the daily rasmussen national poll as the national front runner, but it is very very close.  Mike Huckabee is really hurting for money.  He's been very effective and much more efficient than his rivals, but he needs more money to fight the negative and false ads flooding South Carolina.  Also, Feb 5 has like 20 states, and Huckabee needs a lot of money now to get the organizations set up in those states to get the vote out and inform the public.  The primary is just a few days away and we need to give right now!!!  Then forward this to everyone you know and ask them to give.

Also, if you don't have money YOU CAN MAKE CALLS FOR HUCKABEE.  Go here to register:

http://phonecallsformike.blogspot.com/

If you don't have long distance minutes but DO have a computer, you can download software to make FREE phone calls across the Internet here:

http://icall.com/

All you need is a computer headset, an Internet connection and a heart that cares.

Attack groups like the Club for Growth and others are subverting election contribution limits by attacking on behalf of candidates getting far more in contributions from single donors than is legal if those contributions were given to the campaign.

On taxes, you can go to my blog and see rock solid proof from tax tables of the states to show that Romney increased the tax burden of his state as a percentage of the economy year over year 75% faster than Huckabee :

http://bradbeblogging.blogspot.com/2008/01/romney-rebuttal-enclosed.html

If you watched the debate, you know that Romney had the 3rd worst job growth in the nation during his term, while Huckabee was able to produce a prosperous state.  Even though Romney increased tax on the economy 75% faster than Huckabee, Huckabee did more with the more moderate increase that he had:

  • Huckabee through their kids insurance initiatives brought the rate of uninsured children down from 29% to 19%.
  • Huckabee took their roads which were one of the worst according to Trucker magazine to the most improved according to the same group.
  • Huckabee passed the first ever broad based tax cut in the state's history, and that with a democrat legislature!
  • Huckabee took an education system that was 49th in the nation, and it is now 8th.  49th to 8th!!!!!

What Huckabee did was govern.  OK, so he's not just looking out for big business.  He cares about people too.  And to some, that's going to be a turnoff.  But considering how well he did with so much smaller tax increases than Romney, that has to be impressive.

Please see the tax figures for yourself.  Romney and Club for Growth and others have been lying, trying to stick the fiscal liberal tag on Huckabee, but its simply not true.

We have a chance to have a Christian leader with STRONG biblical principles and now is our time to be heard.  He's even being attacked now for not recanting his support for a patriarchal biblical family structure.  Now if there's anything you would expect a politician to compromise on, it's that, but he hasn't.

In the last update, I did not give any information about the Democrat candidates, because I thought it was common knowledge that they are not pro-life.  I'm going to provide some information now to clear that up.

Barack Obama:
A Text Outline of Barack's record on abortion
Alan keyes proving Barack is even more pro-abortion murder than Hillary Clinton. (In Illinois blocked bill to prevent the murder of unsuccessfully aborted babies who were born alive)
Barack Obama himself stating his support of abortion murder

Hillary Clinton:
Hillary's website states clearly that she supports abortion murder and they even have a fact sheet explaining how tirelessly she has supported it.

On Homosexual privileges, you can see where both of them stand.  They both participated in the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual & Trans-sexual debate or as they like to call it LGBT.  The republicans would not participate in such a debate, but you can hear the democrat candidates and how they'll support the homosexual agenda here:

http://visiblevote08.logoonline.com/2007/08/10/video-the-presidential-forum/

Once again, now is the time to act.  If Huckabee doesn't win South Carolina Saturday, his chances become very slim.  If you can't give, pray.  I ask that you would fast and pray with me.  I have been fasting since Saturday night with nothing but water, and plan to continue for about 3 more days until the primary Saturday night.  I have kept this private until now, but I need to request that you participate with me in seeking God's favor in granting us a Christian leader.  Can you complete these last three days until Saturday evening fasting and praying with me for our nation?

Historically no candidate has ever won the nomination without getting South Carolina.  It is a dead heat right now between the big three: McCain, Huckabee & Romney.  Actually Romney isn't as high, but I expect him to get a bump up from winning Michigan.  The importance of this primary CAN NOT be over-emphasized.

God bless you all,

Brad Reynolds

Romney Rebuttal Enclosed

Michael Medved, gives some useful information for a rebuttal in his article on townhall.com:

http://michaelmedved.townhall.com/blog/g/c6692253-551a-45e4-ba9f-37e740fe9411

Specifically he references the tax foundations statistics on tax for the states:

http://www.taxfoundation.org/taxdata/show/460.html (Massachusetts)
http://www.taxfoundation.org/taxdata/show/442.html (Arkansas)

We need to prevent Huckabee's Long tenure from being used against him. Let's adjust the discussion to put things in a yearly context.

Massachusetts's tax burden went from 9.8% in the year before Romney took office to 10.5% in his final year. Net increase 0.7% of the economy.
Arkansas tax burden went from 10.1% to 11.1% for Huckabee. Net increase 1.0%.

Now let's adjust for length of term:

RateOfIncrease/Year = (base + total increase)^(1/termInYears) - 1

Romney : (1 + .007)^((1/4) -1 = .001745 = .1745%
Huckabee : (1+ .01)^(1/10) - 1 = .000996 = .0996%

As you can see, Romney's per year increase in tax burden is significantly more than Huckabee's. Think of it this way:

that is .1745/.0996 = 175%.

I could say "Under Mitt Romney's tenure as governor the tax burden in Massachusetts increased 75% faster, than it did under Huckabee in Arkansas."

or another way to say it is to use the table below:

Romney

Year Tax as % of Economy % increase
2002 9.80% N/A
2003 10.00% 2.04%
2004 10.20% 2.00%
2005 10.50% 2.94%
2006 10.50% 0.00%
Average Increase/Year
1.75%

Huckabee

Year Tax as % of Economy % increase
1996 10.10% N/A
1997 10.10% 0.00%
1998 10.20% 0.99%
1999 10.20% 0.00%
2000 10.50% 2.94%
2001 10.50% 0.00%
2002 10.30% -1.90%
2003 10.00% -2.91%
2004 10.50% 5.00%
2005 11.20% 6.67%
2006 11.10% -0.89%
Average Increase/Year
0.99%

These numbers generated from the Tax Foundation tables show that Romney increased the tax burden of his state by an average of 1.75% each year (that is 1.75% more than the last years tax burden, not 1.75% of the economy).

This is significantly more than Huckabee. Huckabee increased the tax burden by only .99% each year.

This means Romney increased his state's tax burden 75% faster than Huckabee increased his state's tax burden.

How you, yes you, Contribute to Abortion in America

I have just been stunned with information I was not aware of.

There is a market out there for murdered baby parts and they are used to make things we take for granted. We create the market for these baby slaughterhouses.

So who are we accomplices to in the perpetration of these crimes against humanity?

The vaccination manufacturers.

The following vaccines use murdered babies to be created:

rabies, some mumps, rubella, chickenpox, hepatitis a, smallpox (some), ipv. One of the single measles vaccines is further attenuated in diploid cells

This can be seen in the package inserts - referred to as diploid cells

Lord forgive us for providing this market for murderers. These babies are being murdered and then their parts are being sold at a profit. Of course the parts from more mature babies, even of viable age demand a much higher premium.

Lord bring us to repentance. I know now. My family will not be taking ANY vaccines that are generated from murdered children taken from their mother's womb.

Romney's Character (A Willingness to Lie)

A person's character is shown when they are challenged. When they can't keep the face mask on, what person really comes out?

Many of us have questioned Romney's authenticity in his pro-life stances for several reasons:
  • He's flip flopped
  • In the time he claims to have been pro-choice only because the state was and he wanted to enforce the law, he was also going to and contributing to a pro-abortion organization, which now he claims he doesn't recall the donation his wife gave from their JOINT account?
  • His zeal is just as strong now as it was when he was supporting gay rights and pro-choice. If he had sounded disengenuous before and now he sounds sincere, that would be comforting. The problem is that he delivered his pro-gay pro-abortion message with an equal amount of passion, conviction and promises as he does when he delivers the exact opposite message now.
Now he has made clear his willingness to twist the truth, for political gain. Newsweek uncovers his deceptions in this article. This shows intentional deceptions, false news article quotes. It is pretty bad. So if Romney is comfortable giving false news article quotes in a TV ad, can we trust anything he says?

When he has stood firm against everything we believe, can we now believe he has repented when he STILL shows a willingness to lie?

Huckabee 10th Amendment (Update)

Hi everyone,

The Huckabee meeting was AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!

I posed the question below verbally in many less words and gave him the paper. He seemed genuinely interested in the position I outlined and will pass it on to the legal/constitutional law team to see what they say. He told me the person it would go to, but I don't remember the name.

We both of course have a great heart for the unborn, and I believe he will do whatever he can to protect them. I believe after reviewing the legal standing of the argument below that he will adopt it, but only time will tell.

Praise the Lord for Huckabee,

Brad Reynolds

Huckabee 10th Amendment

Today I will be at a fundraising event for Mike Huckabee. I intend to ask him about an issue I've raised on the forums, his stance on the 10th amendment and abortion.

Below is the content of the question I would like to ask him, I hope the format gives me a chance to do it:

Governor Huckabee,

I'm an adamant supporter. In this tough question, I'm hoping to not only get a clarification, but hopefully to also convince you of the need to slightly alter your policy stance.

In 2006 & recently in response to Fred Thompson's criticism of your abortion positions, you have made it clear that you believe that under the current constitution, that the 10th amendment gives states the right to decide abortion....which is why you are advocating for a Human Life Amendment.

In contrast, the republican platform states:

We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and we endorse legislation to make it clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.

For clarification, the 14th amendment in section 1 says that no State shall deprive any person of life...without due process of law. In the 5th section it says something very important. Quote “The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.”. Close Quote.

Do you believe that the unborn are in fact persons, which by the Supreme Courts own admission would mean that the 14th amendment protects their lives?

If yes, then wouldn't that mean that your statements that abortion falls under the federalism of the 10th amendment are inaccurate, after all, the 10th amendment ONLY applies to things not addressed by the constitution. If the 14th amendment addresses and protects their lives, then the 14th amendment takes this issue out of scope of the 10th amendment.

If you agree that the unborn are persons, and that therefore the 14th amendment protects their lives, will you change your policy statements on this and repudiate the position that abortion under the current constitution falls under the 10th amendment? Will you affirm that the 14th amendment protects their lives and will you lobby for legislation clarifying that the unborn are in fact persons and that the 14th amendment protects them? Will you make this clear in the policy statements on your website and in speeches you give?

This is after all the 2008 republican platform's position.

An update should be coming later to let you know his response or whether or not I had an opportunity to ask the question.

Texas Presidential Poll

As a Texan, I'm happy to bring the news. The Huckaboom is being reflected in the latest Texas poll:

Huckabee – 29% (+13)

Giuliani – 16% (-7)

Thompson – 14% (-2)

Romney – 14% (+2)

McCain – 7% (-2)

Paul – 6% (+1)

Please do not believe that this is happening in only a few states. It's nationwide. We just can't poll all the states frequently enough to see it. Go Huckabee!

Only One Truly Pro-life Candidate

Presidential Election 2008 (December Update)

It has been about 1-month since the first email I sent out, asking everyone to support the only truly pro-life candidate (Mike Huckabee) among the top 6 republican candidates and all the democrats. In the last email Huckabee was little known and considered a long shot by some; things have changed. This hopefully will be by far a more comprehensive comparison of the candidates on their claimed pro-life stances.

After I illustrate and document that amongst those 6 candidates only one is truly pro-life, I will seek to address some of the negative distortions of Mike Huckabee's record that have been released so far.

I will not spend time on the democrat candidates, because all the democrat candidates support abortion rights, which immediately rules them out as a possible candidate. If you do not understand how a person could be a one issue voter, then please refer to this blog that explains the issue well and please view the video:

As the blog states "don't not watch this video just because you don't want to be uncomfortable. Ignorance may be bliss, but ignoring evil doesn't make it disappear." The video shows the remains of abortions performed. I believe that every person who supports a right to choose should be required to see what they are supporting, to see the babies torn in pieces. It is unthinkable to me that a person who understands that a baby in the womb is in fact a baby, a human being, a person...it is unthinkable that they would believe that anyone should be able to choose to murder those children. If Hitler were alive today, running on a platform of killing all the Jews, yes I would be a one-issue voter, considering it a moral imperative to vote against him. The same is true for the Holocaust of our day being committed against the unborn child.

So, on the greatest moral evil of our day, I will outline below three positions held by the candidates:
  • A woman's right to choose
  • A state's right to choose (disguised as pro-life)
  • truly pro-life

So where do the candidates stand? Here:
  • A woman's right to choose (Giuliani)
  • A state's right to choose (Thompson, McCain, Romney & Paul)
  • truly pro-life (Mike Huckabee)

Now for some details on the deception of the "a state's right to choose" position. First it is cloaked in a false federalism. Federalism is the view that most of the power should reside with the states to make decisions. It is supported by the 10th amendment to the constitution that states that any powers not explicitly given to the national government is reserved for the states. I will outline several reasons why their position is not fair to federalism and is not federalism at all. Federalism is just an excuse to hide their pro-abortion agenda.

Why "a state's right to choose" is not federalism:
  1. Abortion is murder. These candidates show no disdain for the federal prohibition of murder. So why does this form of murder get special treatment as being classified as a type of murder that should not be federally prohibited. If one were to be consistent, considering they claim to be pro-life. Then they would believe that no murder should be federally prohibited or all murder should be federally prohibited.
  2. because the constitution explicitly protects this right, the right to life. The 14th amendment prohibits any state from denying ANY PERSON of his/her life without due process of law. Indeed the Supreme Court has agreed that if the baby is in fact a person, 14th amendment protections would apply to them, effectively outlawing all abortion. "A state's right to choose" can only pretend to be federalism if the candidate refuses to recognize the baby as a person.
  3. Passing an amendment would not in any way violate the constitution, it would change it to protect life. The 10th amendment would still apply and not be violated in any way. That is what the amendment process is for. And if anything is worth protecting, it is the lives of the innocent and vulnerable.

Now for the candidates and their positions:

Giuliani on Abortion

Please see the links below where Giuliani clearly articulates that he believes a woman has a right to choose to murder their baby in the womb. He even believes its OK to have the baby half-born, half-way out the womb and then crush his/her head and tear their limbs off (also known as partial birth abortion):

Thompson on Abortion

Thompson on meet the press recently was quoted the the republican platform and asked if he could run under that platform:
MR. RUSSERT: "This is the 2004 Republican Party platform, and here it is:
  • "We say the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution, we endorse legislation to make it clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to unborn children. Our purpose is to have legislative and judicial protection of that right against those who perform abortions."
Could you run as a candidate on that platform, promising a human life amendment banning all abortions?
MR. THOMPSON: No....I think people ought to be free at the state and local level to make decisions that even Fred Thompson disagrees with. That's what freedom is all about. And uh, I think the diversity among the states, the system of federalism we have, where power is divide between the state and federal government has served us very very well. I think that's true of abortion. I think uh, roe-vs-wade hopefully one day will be overturned and we can go back to the pre-roe-vs-wade state.
MR. RUSSERT: "Each state could make their own abortion laws?"
MR. THOMPSON: Yes. but to have an amendment compelling going back even further than pre-roe-vs-wade, a constitutional amendment to do that I do not think would be the way to go.

He goes on to characterize the pro-life movement as wanting to throw young, young girls in prison. Here is the video clip:

Romney on Abortion

Romney's position is very hard to nail down, because it appears he changes it every few days when it comes to the specifics. Buried in a section called "Confronting Threats to American Culture, Values, and Freedoms" Romney has this false federalism to espouse:

"As President, Governor Romney will promote a culture of life. Governor Romney believes that Roe v. Wade should be overturned so that the issue of abortion can be returned to the American people and their elected representatives at the state and federal level." "I believe that the states, through the democratic process, should determine their own abortion laws and not have them dictated by judicial mandate."

Clearly the "state's right to choose" position. He also believes in allowing mothers to choose to kill their unborn children in the embryonic stage of development for stem cell research from fertility procedures. This is in stark contrast to his past position of being almost fanatically pro-choice. He zealously protects his woman's right to choose stance in the following videos. Listen to these clips of his past position:
McCain on Abortion
From McCain's own campaign website you can see that he believes in this false federalism, and wants the states to make the decision:
John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat. However, the reversal of Roe v. Wade represents only one step in the long path toward ending abortion. Once the question is returned to the states, the fight for life will be one of courage and compassion...
It should also be noted that in the past McCain staunchly opposed overturning roe-vs-wade. In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, how could he say this "But certainly in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade, which would then force X number of women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations". He re-iterates this view in less absolute terms again in the following video:

Ron Paul on Abortion
Ron Paul does not advocate a pro-life position. He believes in "a state's right to choose". I will say that he does seem extremely genuine in his personal objection to abortion as a violent act than the above candidates, but his policy stance is the same (federalistic pretense) and will be no better than what the other candidates are willing to do. In the video below, he makes his position clear stating:
"I think they [the states] should deal with this issue...I don't want the federal government to do it....You don't need a constitutional amendment."

Huckabee on Abortion

Huckabee is a true pro-life candidate, in fact it is the very reason he says he entered politics in the first place. He endorses all pro-life measures. He supports overturning Roe-vs-Wade, but not just because he claims to be a federalist. He has rightly called abortion a Holocaust:
"Sometimes we talk about why we're importing so many people in our workforce," the former Arkansas governor said. "It might be for the last 35 years, we have aborted more than a million people who would have been in our workforce had we not had the holocaust of liberalized abortion under a flawed Supreme Court ruling in 1973."
He supports an amendment to protect children federally. He supports overturning roe-vs-wade. He supports Georgia's proposed state amendment defining personhood to include unborn children. I can't think of anything pro-life he does not support. He has a history on the issue and has never wavered. His stance can be seen in the issues section of his site. Here is the link directly to the Abortion section, which by the way is very prominently displayed on his issues webpage right below "faith and politics":

If you have any confusion about the source and strength of his convictions on moral issues, this is what he had to say about a marriage amendment:
"I'm very tired of hearing people who are unwilling to change the constitution, but seem more than willing to change the holy word of God as it relates to the definition of marriage,"

Huckabee has a strong Christian moral compass and he readily claims that in fact his FAITH DOES influence his decisions, his faith defines him:
    • "My faith is my life - it defines me. My faith doesn't influence my decisions, it drives them. For example, when it comes to the environment, I believe in being a good steward of the earth. I don't separate my faith from my personal and professional lives."

Please visit http://www.mikehuckabee.com/ to get a lot more in-depth information about who Mike Huckabee is. Support him. He is our only choice (among the top 6 republicans and all the democrats) to end this holocaust.

Huckabee Objections (But what about...)

First let me say that the absolute premier place you should go to get the campaign's response to some of the deception about his record is to the section of his website called "Truth Squad":

There has been a LOT of attacks going out against Huckabee, a lot have been because of his Christian faith and others have not. He's been called a religious bigot because he would not respond and acknowledge Mormonism as a Christian denomination. Nevermind the fact that they believe Jesus & Satan are brothers and that we all can become gods and have our own planets. So for not responding he's called a bigot and when he responds by asking if they believe Jesus and Satan are brothers (which by the way they have on their website that they do believe), he gets called a bigot for "slurring" their religion. He just asked the question! He's called a sexist for agreeing with the baptist convention on the patriarical family. He's been called a homo-phobe for believing that homosexual behavior is a sin. Basically he's been attacked for any Godly biblical stance he has taken. But lets go on to some other issues.

But what about all the ethical violations he had as governor?
Unlike what you may have heard, the ethics commission that was formed appears to have been an attack machine in disguise. I read some of the details behind the ethics complaints, and they seem very much like political attacks. I mean we're talking about stuff like him using the fund for maintaining the house for his "personal" dry-cleaning? That's what that's for in my opinion. I mean really, I didn't research every single one, because when I started to get into the details, it was clear that it was petty political attack types of issues. I'll direct you to the Truth Squad to get the Huckabee response:

But what about the Wayne Dumond issue?
This issue also is addressed at the truth squad section of the website above. I would like to add a few details though. Mike huckabee did not pardon Dumond. He mistakenly thought Dumond should be released. Wayne Dumond before trial was hog-tied and, umm, "surgically altered". The sherriff got a hold of the remains of this procedure and publicly displayed them before flushing them down a toilet. Huckabee readily admits that wanting Wayne Dumond to be released after have served some time was a mistake (in hindsight), but Huckabee claims to have done nothing other than deny his request for clemency 4 times! It is the parole board who paroled him (a parole board full of 100% democrat appointees). At that time, they said they were not influenced by the governor to make the decision they made. Now they have changed their minds and claim that they were influenced by him. Truth Squad deals with this more in-depth.

But didn't the club for growth prove he was a tax hiking liberal/moderate?
Please read the Huckabee truth squad section on this. Truth 1% increase state/local with an actual decrease in total tax burden state/local/federal. I think several others have actually laid out an even better case for him though...providing numerical evidence:
Huckabee did what he had to do under state supreme court orders to supply needed services and a state constitution that REQUIRES a balanced budget. It's easy to not raise taxes when you can do what we do at the federal level (Spend money we don't have and leave the gift of overwhelming debt to the next generation, thanks Mom/Dad!). For more details go to the truth squad section of his website: Also, this is from the campaign site, outlining some, a few of his tax accomplishments:
As Governor of Arkansas, I pushed through the Arkansas Legislature the first major, broad-based tax cuts in state history - a $90 million tax relief package for Arkansas families. I also doubled the standard deduction to $2,000 for single taxpayers and $4,000 for those who are married. Some taxes I eliminated entirely: the marriage penalty, bracket creep caused by inflation, income tax on poor families, and capital gains on home sales. To encourage investment, I cut capital gains for both individuals and businesses. To help people better themselves, I provided tax credits for employee training and education. In total, I cut taxes and fees nearly 100 times during my ten-and-a-half years as Governor, saving the people of Arkansas almost $380 million.

But what about his soft stance on illegal immigration?
He deals very thoroughly with this in the Truth Squad section under several articles. He supported that the children of illegal immigrants who had been in Arkansa schools and had excelled academically be allowed to receive the same scholarship that other students were capable of receiving. His justification was two fold:
  • Those children never made a choice and never broke the law. If their parents put them on the back of a truck when they were a little child, it's not their fault that their parents broke the law
  • We are a better country than to punish the children for the sins of their parents.
Huckabee is very strong on stopping illegal immigration, so much so that the founder of the MinuteMan project has given Huckabee his endorsement. Huckabee's plan for dealing with illegal immigration is on the campaign website and requires all illegal immigrants to return to their country and apply for legal immigration.

But who is Huckabee, there is no way he can win, right?

When I last wrote, Huckabee was beginning to catch on and it was only showing in the rasmussen polls (which is generally 1-2 weeks ahead of the other polls). The Huckaboom is in full swing now. Huckabee is blowing away the competition in the first caucus (Iowa) 39% to Romney 17% to everyone else below that. He's taken the lead in a bunch of states (Michigan, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and others including Giuliani's "firewall" of Florida. He has the lead nationally for three weeks now. Here are the national numbers.

Conclusion

More information is available from Mike Huckabee's website. Let's not get caught in the lies; investigate. Also look at all the good things about Huckabee. He is a true fiscal, defense & social conservative. He cut taxes 94 times. Eliminated the marriage penalty. Passed covenant marriage laws. Protected the unborn.

He has a moral compass. When Katrina hit, he told state workers to not allow any unfinished paperwork to prevent anyone from being taken care of, to care for them like those people were their own family. So when the rest of the country was lamenting the pathetic response of the government at all level, Arkansa was a shining example of the opposite. For this and other accomplishments he was named one of the top 5 governor's in America.

What does Huckabee not have? He doesn't have the huge amount of money other candidates have. Would you consider giving whatever you can to help? He needs to run more ads. Get his message out. He needs money to do it. It is time for people of conviction to stand and be counted. Not to say "be clothed and well fed" and yet do nothing for the need. It's time we do something!

Support Mike Huckabee today!! Pass this on to EVERYONE you know that is a conservative. Even if you can't give, maybe someone you know can. Pass the word along.
